Part 1. Recover lost text messages with iTunes and iCloud

Solution 1. Recover lost text messages from iPhone 6S with iTunes

This is a traditional way to retrieve your lost text messages if you’ve ever backed them up with iTunes before. However, all data added after the last backup will be covered at the same time. So you’d better back up the data if necessary.

Step 1. Close automatic syncing in your iTunes

Connect your iPhone. In iTunes, click your device button in the upper right corner of the prime window and go to the Summary window of your iPhone. Then click “Restore Backup…” button. Or just click “File”-> “Devices”-> “Restore from Backup”. If you still use the iTunes 10.7 or even earlier, control-click the device in the sidebar, and then choose “Restore from Backup” option.

Solution 2. Retrieve deleted iPhone 6S text messages with iCloud

Restore data with iCloud is also a not bad way to retrieve your deleted text messages, after all, you don’t need any local backups. Although this will also delete the data added after the generation of the last iCloud backup.

Step 1. Clear up all content on your iPhone 6S

On your iPhone, go to “Settings”-> “General”-> “Reset”, and then click “Erase All Content and Settings”. This will totally erase all existing data on your iPhone, be sure you’ve backed them up before doing this.
